being trained in the fashion industry in 1989.
After the training, they worked as a sewing contractor for the
famous designers like Bob Mackie, Issac Mizrahi and others. Then
they opened a business specializing in custom designed women’s
wear in 1993, in McLean. They have been serving women with all the
kinds on designing and sewing needs ever since!
Henry and Lynn's scope of business includes:
- Ready to Wear Womens Dresses
- Custom made Wedding Gowns and Veils
- Custom made Mother of the Brides and Mother of the Grooms Dresses
- Custom made Special Occasion Dresses and Suits
- Custom made Career Suits
- Expert Alteration that requires the highest level of difficulty
in sewing skill
At the first meeting Henry and Lynn design your garment. They start
off carefully choosing flattering designs for each customer. Fairly
often, customers bring a picture of desired designs. Henry and Lynn
can of course corroborate with customers to create that ultimate
dress of dreams! Then, you choose the fabric that will work with
the designed garment. You can specify whether you want them lined
or not, whether you want the most exquisite fabric or a sturdy and
practical fabric. They take down your body measurement for the muslin
fitting.
At the second meeting, Henry and Lynn have your muslin ready. At
this point in the process, they can still make minor design changes,
and make sure the garment is big enough, and long enough. They will
make note of how much to let out, where to let out, where the pocket
placements should be, etc.
For the third meeting, the garment is ready for fitting. Buttons
and trims that complement the design of the garment will be chosen.
At the fourth meeting Henry and Lynn have your garment ready to
be picked up. If the garment needs last minute changes, they will
make the changes.
To sum up, the process is lengthy, but Henry and Lynn’s customers
enjoy the process very much. Most of all, you will end up with perfectly
flattering garment - even if you lose weight, you don't want to
get rid of the tailored clothes!
Testimonials
It is always a pleasure working with Henry and Lynn! Their
clients get double attention-to detail, to ideas, to the uncompromising
workmanship in one's finished garment. Henry and Y Couture have
my unqualified recommendation.
--Shelah Landsman, Potomac, MD.
I have been a client of Henry and Y Couture for nearly 20 years.
They are superb both at designing and making clothes and at alterations.
They keep up with the latest fashions and always know what will
work best for each client. The clothes they have made for me are
the best fitting and most comfortable ones I own. As for clothes
I bought elsewhere, I am rarely satisfied with the alterations done
even in the most exclusive department stores. As a result, there
is scarcely an item in my wardrobe that has not been altered to
suit my passion for the perfect fit by Henry or Lynn.
--Sally Pitofsky, Chevy Chase, MD
For the last 15 or so years, I've been enjoying the beautiful
clothes created and produced by Henry and Y. Wonderful designs,
wonderful workmanship and wonderful people to work with--Henry and
Y has it all.
